Prep
Secondary Prep is an after-school program that prepares academically gifted African American, Hispanic, and Native American students to enter one of several independent Buffalo Schools. Our students take classes for two six-week summer sessions (one after 7th grade and one after 8th grade). Students have, on average, approximately 3-5 hours of homework daily during the summer sessions. During their eighth grade school year, students take classes (with homework) two weeknights plus every Saturday. Preppie students spend hundreds and hundreds of hours studying math, science, English and American History. Curriculum of skills include writing, problem solving, scientific inquiry, critical thinking, time management, and computer and study skills. To obtain an admission application packet for Secondary Prep, you and your child are required to attend an information session. Please check our Calendar of Events section for the dates and times of the Information Sessions. You need only attend one of the several informative sessions held throughout the city of Buffalo. At that time, you will fill out the application and return it to one of the Buffalo Prep representatives at the conclusion of the information session. You may have already received a brochure that provides additional information about Buffalo Prep. Feel free to call our office at (716) 829-3605 to request a brochure if one has not already been provided to you. Your interest in Buffalo Prep as a new educational opportunity for your child is deeply appreciated.
