About Buffalo Prep
The vision for Buffalo Prep is, "Academically promising minority students will have the opportunity to participate in an educational environment that prepares them for and links them to the best in college education. Possessing high expectations, commitment and perseverance, these students will be successful and evolve to positions of community leadership." As a nationally recognized academic enrichment program for minority young adults, Buffalo Prep has been challenging its students since 1989. It has been improving the educational landscape for disadvantaged minority students in the Western New York area for numerous years. Buffalo Prep has identified and met the academic, social, and cultural needs of thousands of gifted students who once found too little challenge and support in their neighborhood schools and at home.
Connecting multiple levels of education, this unique enrichment program enhances the quality of life for more than 300 disadvantaged students and their families each year and serves as a stepping stone to a brighter future. We partner with 13 consortium private high schools offering nearly $400,000 in financial aid to our students each year. Buffalo Prep, in turn, provides these schools with the opportunity to take advantage of a more diverse student body, which helps all students, families and staff members forge relationships that transcend racial, ethnic and economic differences. This diversity helps to prepare all students for colleges and workplaces that are becoming more representative of America's greater diverse community.
To meet the increasing needs of inner-city students in Western New York, Buffalo Prep has expanded over the years, and now offers three programs to help students excel in school and beyond: Middle School Prep, High School Prep, and College Prep.
